Iran Rejects Temporary Ceasefire, Calls for Permanent Resolution

(MENAFN) Iran has formally submitted a 10-point proposal outlining its conditions for ending the war, firmly rejecting any temporary ceasefire arrangement in favor of a permanent resolution, a state news agency reported.

Tehran transmitted its response to a US proposal through Pakistan following two weeks of intensive high-level deliberations — signaling that while Iran is engaging diplomatically, it is doing so strictly on its own terms.

The 10-point document rules out any interim halt to hostilities and instead insists on a comprehensive, lasting end to the conflict consistent with Iran's stated conditions. Among its core demands: a full cessation of hostilities across the region, a binding framework to guarantee safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a commitment to reconstruction support, and the lifting of sweeping sanctions against Tehran.

The proposal follows a string of significant developments in western and central Iran, including a reported US heliborne operation that further complicated the battlefield picture.

Washington, meanwhile, appeared noncommittal. A White House official said a proposed 45-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran is "one of many ideas" currently under discussion, firmly tempering any expectations of an imminent breakthrough.

"The president has not signed off on it. Operation Epic Fury continues," the official said, according to a reporter.

Ravid further reported that US President Donald Trump is expected to shed additional light on the state of negotiations during a press conference in Washington at 1700 GMT on Thursday.
