Clashes in Balochistan Leave Scores Dead as Pakistani Forces Foil Attacks

(MENAFN) At least 18 civilians, 15 soldiers, and 133 militants were killed in clashes as Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted large-scale terrorist attacks in Balochistan, according to a statement from the military’s media wing on Saturday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that coordinated attacks occurred at 12 locations across the province and commended security forces for preventing them from succeeding. In an official statement, he emphasized that the fight against terrorism will continue “until the last terrorist is eliminated.”

The attacks took place in multiple areas, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. During operations on Saturday, 92 militants — including three suicide bombers — were killed. An additional 41 militants were killed in separate security operations on Friday, bringing the total to 133 over the past 48 hours.

“Intelligence reports have unequivocally confirmed that the attacks were orchestrated and directed by terrorist ringleaders operating from outside Pakistan, who were in direct communication with the terrorists throughout the incident,” the military statement said.

Earlier on Friday, security forces had killed at least 41 militants during two operations in the Harnai and Panjgur districts. The surge in violence reflects a broader rise in militant activity in Pakistan’s western and southwestern regions in recent years.
