Trump Vows US Blockade of Strait of Hormuz After Failed Iran Negotiations
Since the conflict began, Iran has been limiting shipping activity in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for oil and gas exports. The US president also issued an order for the US Navy to intercept and detain any vessels paying tolls to Iran in international waters.
Trump explained that during the Islamabad discussions, Iran refused to relinquish its pursuit of nuclear power. He mentioned that he had been fully briefed on the talks by key officials, including Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law and advisor, Jared Kushner. “In many ways, the points that were agreed to are better than us continuing our Military Operations to conclusion, but all of those points don’t matter compared to allowing Nuclear Power to be in the hands of such volatile, difficult, unpredictable people," Trump remarked.
The president also indicated that efforts to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz would commence shortly, issuing a stern warning: “Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels, will be Blown to hell!”
