Pakistan PM Urges Global Cooperation for Sustainable Mideast Stability
According to an official statement, Sharif expressed appreciation for the European Union’s backing of efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Gulf region. He also highlighted the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in supporting ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
“He laid special emphasis on the need for the international community, including the EU, to work collectively to ensure lasting peace in the region,” the statement said.
The talks followed the eighth session of the EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue and covered a broad range of areas for enhanced cooperation, including commerce, investment, climate action, security matters, migration, sustainable growth and regional connectivity. Sharif also pointed to the significance of the EU’s GSP+ trade framework in fostering stronger economic relations between the two sides.
Kallas, who serves as the EU’s top foreign affairs representative and a vice-president of the European Commission, commended Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and reaffirmed the bloc’s interest in expanding its strategic partnership with Islamabad.
