Magnitude 5.2 Quake Jolts Kabul, Pakistan as Tremors Spread

(MENAFN) A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rattled Afghanistan and Pakistan late Sunday, sending tremors across multiple provinces on both sides of the border, according to regional media.

An Afghan broadcaster said the shaking reached Kabul, the capital, as well as Nangarhar and several surrounding provinces. The outlet said authorities had received no immediate reports of casualties or damage inside Afghanistan.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) put the quake’s strength at magnitude 5.2.

Across the border, a Pakistani broadcaster said the tremor was felt in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest and in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region.
